Notified Body N°2754 under EU Regulation 2016/425 on Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and a subsidiary of Critt Sport Loisirs.
Given its notification by the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Digital and its accreditation to ISO/IEC 17065:2012, Aliénor Certification is recognized as a PPE conformity assessment body meeting the requirements defined in Regulation (EU) 2016/425.
Aliénor Certification issues, as a third party, certificates of conformity to all European legal requirements to allow manufacturers to affix the CE mark on their PPE, thus allowing their free circulation in the European Economic Area (EEA).
Aliénor Certification is part of a group whose parent company is CRITT SPORT LOISIRS, a non-profit association under the French law of 1901.
Originally, in 1988, the CRITT SPORT LOISIRS was created by the public authorities and university research in order to develop new industrial activities by participating in the creation of innovative products. The aim was to act as an interface between research, companies and public institutions.
Established since 1996 in Châtellerault, France, CRITT SPORT LOISIRS has never stopped evolving and with its numerous ISO 17025 accredited testing laboratories, CRITT SPORT LOISIRS has naturally become a European notified body under the 89/686/CE directive on personal protective equipment.
In 2016, following the repeal of this directive in favor of the new EU regulation 2016/425, the European rules for becoming a notified body have evolved. The obligation to be accredited to the ISO/CEI 17065:2012 standard incompatible with the consulting activities of CRITT SPORT LOISIRS thus forced it to separate from its certification branch and to create its first subsidiary ALIENOR CERTIFICATION which became a notified body under the EU 2016/425 regulation on personal protective equipment.
Since the implementation of BREXIT in January 2021, the United Kingdom (England, Wales and Scotland) has officially left the EU.
As a result, the UKCA marking replaces the CE marking for products placed on the UK market. From January 2023, UKCA marking will be mandatory in the UK (with some recently published extensions until 2027).
The rules for obtaining the UKCA marking are the same as for the CE marking, i.e. the current modules B (type examination) and C2/D (verification of the production method of the PPE).
To do this, the manufacturer will need to apply for a new UKCA certificate from a UK "approved body" if they want to place goods in the UK.
In this context, given the strong demand from our customers for the UKCA marking, Alienor Certification decided to open a subsidiary, Alienor Certification Ltd, in London, UK, with the aim of becoming an "approved body".
Aliénor Certification has an international clientele that is mainly divided between Europe and Asia.
